THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO) RECOMMENDED TO START DESTRUCTION OF PATHOGENS IN UKRAINIAN LABORATORIES
Biosecurity experts claim that the special operation in Ukraine has raised the risk of disease-causing pathogens leakage, if any of these laboratories are damaged.
There are public health laboratories in Ukraine researching how to reduce the threat of dangerous diseases affecting people. Laboratories received support from the United States, the European Union and the WHO.
As part of this work, the WHO urged the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and other responsible authorities to destroy highly dangerous pathogens to prevent potential spills.
The WHO did not inform when it made this recommendation and did not divulge details about the types of pathogens or toxins in Ukrainian laboratories. The organization also did not respond to questions about whether its recommendations were implemented by the Ukrainian side.
