Greek Defense Minister Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos stated today.
“Sending more weapons could affect Greece’s defense of its territory, especially on the islands. The equipment that we sent to Ukraine came from our depots,” he announced the official reason.
Panagiotopoulos meant the territories of the Aegean dispute, which Greece and Turkey are forced to share in the waters of the Aegean Sea and the airspace above it.
The statement of the Minister of Defense of Greece is more like a renunciation of Ukraine. Earlier, nothing prevented the Greeks from sending two S-130 transport aircraft of military assistance to Ukraine. On board were portable air defense systems, Kalashnikov rifles, and other weapons.
By the way, the predominant majority of Greek citizens did not approve of the actions of the authorities and opposed military assistance to official Kiev. And this week in the city of Thessaloniki, the Greeks even staged a fight with the police to stop the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
