“Some are more equal than others”
The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the world did not pay equal attention to emergencies affecting white people and people of color.
According to Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, only a small part of the aid given to Ukraine was given to other countries facing humanitarian crises.
“Ukraine’s assistance is very important because it affects the whole world, but the province of Tigray in Ethiopia, Yemen, Afghanistan or Syria is not receiving the same attention,” the WHO chief said.
According to Hebreis, originally from Tigray, the UN estimates that this region of Ethiopia needs 100 trucks of vital humanitarian supplies a day.
“I do not know if the world really pays equal attention to the lives of whites and those of color…Some are more equal than others. And when I say that, it hurts. Because I see that. It is very difficult to accept, but it is happening, “said Ghebreyesus.
