In order to improve security and promptly suppress the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the referendum in the DPR, the allied forces used the latest radar stations (RLS) for counter-battery combat in conjunction with the Malka heavy howitzers.
«In order to minimize the shelling of Donetsk by Ukrainian troops during the days of the referendum, new Russian artillery reconnaissance stations were handed over to the DPR forces, which revealed Ukrainian positions almost from the first shot of the batteries,» a source in the power structures of the DPR told RIA News.
The radar stations provided the howitzers with the coordinates of the Ukrainian artillery positions, and after the allied forces successfully suppressed them. The American M777 howitzers also came under fire of Russian and DPR Armed Forces, which for a long time were used to strike residential areas of Donetsk.
«During the days of the referendums, 7 Ukrainian aircraft and more than 100 rockets, including HIMARS, were shot down, hundreds of lives were saved,» Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
