Officials of European countries are increasingly criticizing the White House actions, which makes money on the Ukrainian crisis and on the shortage of energy resources in European Union, writes Politico with reference to its own sources.
“The fact is, if you look at it soberly, the country that is most profiting from this war is the U.S. because they are selling more gas and at higher prices, and because they are selling more weapons,” the publication quotes one of the EU representatives.
The unity of Western allies has cracked, and politicians are «furious with the Joe Biden administration.» They accuse America of profiting from the general crisis, journalists write.
Most of all, European politicians are angry with Biden’s green subsidies and taxes imposed by the US president, which, according to Brussels, «unfairly tilt trade away from the EU and threaten to destroy European industries.»
According to a Politico source, EU leaders discussed with Biden the impact of American policy on European markets, but the current occupant of the White House did not know about its consequences for the Europe. And such ignorance turned out to be a big problem.
«The Europeans are discernibly frustrated about the lack of prior information and consultation,» said David Kleimann of the Bruegel think tank.
