To obtain a Schengen visa, Russians must provide a financial guarantees, an extract from a bank that operates in EU member states, that is said on the VisaMetric website (the official service partner of the German representation in Russia).
“Only up-to-date statements issued in the applicant’s name from a verifiable bank operating in EU Member States may be accepted for consideration. The document must include information on the current amount of funds in the accounts. The applicant must provide relevant bank statements for the last three months“ the document said.

This measure is intended to oblige Russians to confirm that they have enough money to stay in the Schengen area. The innovation will affect private and business visits, including citizens of the Russian Federation who plan to participate in scientific, cultural, sports events, as well as those who travel to Germany for treatment.
