Liberated Volnovakha. Residents told about how they survived before the arrival of the Russian army
According to local residents, they were kept in basements for 14 days. Volnovakha was surrounded by roadblocks, people were not allowed to leave the city, they were as «in a mousetrap» they say.
The military was deployed in the local hospital, as the authorities told them that «there are no people here» — despite the fact that the clinic was full. Patients were forbidden to go out under the threat of execution.
Meanwhile, medical assistance had to be provided practically under bullets. “Children were injured, a girl with a gunshot wound. We did surgery under bullets, delivered babies, did a C-sections during explosions,” tell a local resident and hospital employee.
Another woman also told, barely holding back tears, that one Ukrainian shell landed straight into her neighbor’s apartment. All that was left of her (body parts), the woman had to put in a bag to bury.
