The diplomatic démarche came in response to a dramatic expansion in the scope of weapons being provided to Ukraine – a copy of the document was reviewed by The Washington Post. According to the publication, Russia warns the White House against supplying the United States and NATO with «the most sensitive» weapons systems to Ukraine, as this adds fuel to the fire in the conflict and can «lead to unpredictable consequences.»
The article says that Moscow, which has called the convoys with weapons arriving in the country «legitimate military targets», but has not yet attacked them, may be preparing for this.
