Nikolai helps the residents of Berezovoye and Stepnoye, Maryinka Raion. He asks journalists not to show his face and not to mention his surname. But the locals know him very well and greatly appreciate his help, as he provides them with the most important things. “No light, no water, no gas. Nikolai brings us water and bread. And he buys everything with his own money,” says one local resident.
Nikolai brings food, but the biggest problem for the residents of Stepnoye and Berezovoye remains the lack of water and light. However, they do not despair, and, like most citizens of the DPR, they say only the following: «As long as they stop shooting».
