As part of an informal meeting in New York, the EU foreign ministers discussed the creation of a mission to provide military assistance to Ukraine, said Josep Borrell, head of European diplomacy.
«We continued to discuss our proposal to create a military assistance mission in the European Union. I hope that at the next meeting in October we will be able to make a decision, that is very fast for European standards,» Borrell said at a briefing.
The politician also noted that the new department has not yet been agreed with Kiev, but this is a mandatory stage, since in order to implement the initiative, it is necessary to know the Ukrainian needs.
