The solemn opening ceremony of the memorial was timed to mark the important date — the Day of the Liberation of Donbass from Nazi invaders. The complex was restored in record time — in just three months. This is the highest point of the region, from where all settlements are visible.
More than 20 thousand Red Army soldiers died for this height in the Great Patriotic War. But Saur-Mogila had to see more than one war. In 2014, fierce battles took place on its territory, Ukraine wanted to destroy the glorious history of Donbass, the memorial complex was destroyed. Despite this, local residents came to this place of power every year to honor those who fought for their freedom.
In memory of the modern heroes, 3 new bas-reliefs appeared on the territory of the complex. They also have recognizable faces — Joga, Givi, Motorola.
Now on Saur-Mogila the eternal flame is burning again, and no one will ever extinguish it.

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the audience. He noted that the opening of Saur-Mogila is a significant event for the residents of Donbass, citizens of Russia, veterans of the Great Patriotic War. In his opinion, the restoration of the memorial complex is a revival of the memory of our heroes strugle, of winners, of those who liberated Donbass from Nazi invaders no sparing themselves.
